hdmi 1.4 compatibility
Posted by Arnie Schlissel on April 1, 2010 at 4:16 pmI’m just wondering if current Intensity and HDMI equipped Decklink cards will be upgradable to HDMI 1.4? Through a driver or firmware update, perhaps?

April 3, 2010 at 4:37 pmI was particularly interested in the stereoscopic 3D.
If I understand what I’ve been reading, The 1.4 spec supports 3D in both interleave and side-by-side in both 1920×1080 and 1280×720 frame sizes at standard frame rates. I assume (note: I am not a programmer or silicon designer and do not know what I am talking about here!) that would not be a big deal with existing BM HDMI equipped cards. The spec also mentions some new frame sizes, though. The larger frame sizes would not only require faster drive arrays, they would require new high speed HDMI cabling.
And at some point, someone is going to ask me about 4k, which is also supported by the 1.4 spec. Actually I get one or two calls a year about 4k, now, but I can wiggle out of it by explaining that it’s not supported by anyone.

May 14, 2010 at 2:45 pmThat would be GREAT to have HDMI 1.4 compatibility! I hope that can be a firmware upgrade.
