    Hi,

I’ve got HD-Link (1.7 utility) connected to 23” Sony SDM-P234 monitor. I’ve noticed that monitor shows interlaced image when any motion is present on the screen. Since monitor is progressive (LCD) the interlacing is very visible and I can clearly see the “comb” artefacts on it. It is the same in “extended desktop” (when I move with windows on the screen) as well as in After Efects RAM preview even when I’m working with 25 fps progressive footage (and only when previewing of course), it shows some “fake” interlacing issue. I tried to play with HD-Link utility (the EDID otpions) with no effect. Is it natural behavior or did I miss something?

    Thanks for any advice…

    Hi Jaromir

i do belive this is normal, i did a demo today with the hdlink and the apple 23 at standard
res, and we saw the same “comb” artefacts, which doesn’t exist with hd content.

how is the sony SDM-P234 ?

You see the intralcing because of the pulldown the apple display can show only 60fps anything other than that will be pulled down
I dont know the extac pulldown pattern for 25fps but 24fps should use 322!?

When I played with EDID option, I was able to force my LCD to have refresh rate 50Hz what is exactly twice of 25fps, of course. But the image was still interlaced.
I think my Sony monitor is the same as Apple one. It has the same size, options and even price. So, Kaspar, you can see on your LCD uninterlaced image? Video or extended desktop? Even in 24fps?
    I’m just curious…

    Thanks

Going from old memories when I had the time to test my apple and hdlink combo I think 24 looked better than 25p but 30p was crisp clear – I leaft @ that and started working on the unit I do work in PAL country so I am not too happy about it
