I was just hired to edit my first HD spot. I will purchase a Decklink HD card and was thinking of using an HDLink and an Apple 23″ Cinema Display to monitor the footage.

I have a question about using this monitoring setup with SD footage. If I have widescreen SD footage how does it look on the 23″ display? Will appear as 16×9 or will it look squished as on a monitor without a 16×9 setting?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I need to make a buying decision soon.

    hi there,

my decklink hd link is getting hot during operation
I think about 50 degrees Celsius or 122 degrees Fahrenheit,
    is that normal?

    greetings …

I love the HD link but SD footage looks awful when stretched up on the LCD, it gets wierd blocky/interlaced artifacts even with progressive motion graphics, we had to switch back to a CRT for SD.
