I purchased an HDLink a couple of months ago and everything has been fine while hooked up via DVI to an HP L2335 LCD monitor.

Luke M. had suggested in an email that one option if I wanted to fill the screen would be to use the HDMI option to connect up an HDTV. I did that, to a Dell 32″ HDTV. As soon as I opened up Final Cut (an SD project), the TV gave me an error message.

Now the HDLink will not display SD correctly, even when I go back to my prior configuration. The SD picture appears in a corner of the 720p raster and the screen flickers horribly. I have the latest firmware. I wrote to BMD about this two days ago but have rec’d no reply.

I did a search of this forum and only there did I discover that SD is not supported via the HDMI output. But shouldn’t I still have SD if I go back to DVI? Is my HDLink busted, and if so, how do I get a new one?

    Hi Michael,

Sorry but you must have just emailed us before the weekend so you’ll probably get an email reply today!

Currently our HDMI support in HDLink is limited to HD. However we’ve been looking at adding SD support and we’re going to do it if we can. This is not a promise but I think we can do it. If so, it will appear soon.

Yes you should have SD if you revert to DVI. I wonder if you have switched back to DVI connections but still need to open the HDLink Utility and reset the output setting from HDMI back to DVI? Can you please check that? With bit of luck, that will be the solution to your problem.

    Luke,

Thanks for the reply. I don’t think luck is working with us in this case, however, as I checked and rechecked my settings in HDLink’s utility before giving up. It was indeed set to DVI, and I tried all the alternative SD choices (I had been using 2x blowup w/ anamorphic for this project).

My current plan is to use the component inputs of the Dell HDTV for SD and the HDLink/HDMI input for HD. It’s too bad as I enjoyed being able to switch back and forth virtually automatically before.

BTW – tech support asked for my phone # in an email but has not contacted me yet. I’m assuming that will happen soon as I need to get this issue resolved ASAP.

    Thanks Luke.
