HDCAM SR capture into Final Cut Pro 7 via AJA Kona 3 and Sony SRW 5500
Greetings,
I have no idea what I’m doing here so any advice is hugely appreciated. I am trying to capture several spots from HDCAM SR via the Sony SRW 5500 deck and the AJA Kona 3. I can’t seem to get device control or an image in Log and Capture. What capture preset should I choose? What needs to happen on Kona 3 control panel? Any links or relevant information will really get me out of this jam. Thanks in advance.
Tapes are all 1080i/59.94. Do I need to set the deck or does that happen automatically when inserting tape?Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon, 8GB Memory, 8 Cores.

You need the AJA VTR Exchage plugin (free on AJA web) to control the desk by RS-422.[Willi Patton] “Tapes are all 1080i/59.94. Do I need to set the deck or does that happen automatically when inserting tape?”
The desk should play whatever is on the tape. make sure there is not any kind of downscaling option (720, SD) on.
In FC, just need to set the “Capture Preset” for 1080i60.
It may show up as 1080i30 (I´m far from FC) or as shows in Kona panel, “1080i29,97”
In the KONA panel, make sure everything shows as “1080i29,97”.
