  • HDCAM SR – 2 Questions

Posted by Seawild on June 25, 2008 at 7:49 pm

    Hello Folks,

    1) Does a HDCAM tape that is labeled 29.97 run fine at 59.94 and visa versa? Are they the same thing? And if so why are there 2 choices?

    2) Can the HDCAM SR deck be play back “single link” ( using only one SDI, BNC 50 ohm cable )if the tape is 4:2:2? Or must the HDCAM SR desk always be outputting “Dual-Link”. ( using 2 BnC cables ).

(I know the regular HDCAM deck will play out a single SDI cable)

    Thanks,
    Chris

    be VERY careful.
it depends on which SR deck, the latest models of SRW1 and 5800 can do 1080 60p (at 59.94) and 60i

1080 60p is a dual link connection,so check to make sure what System . Line . Format is set to.
Traditionally 29.97 is considered the default HDcam format for playback, stick with this for safety.

YES it can even playback 444 material as Single link- this is setup in the secondary outputs
