  • HD100 question about PAL and HDV

Posted by Brian Luce on October 23, 2007 at 10:22 pm

The JVC HD100 shoots in a SD/HDV mode of 25p and 50p at 576. Is this a PAL signal or does the HDV codec make it agnostic?

Suppose you originate in 25p/576 and output to DVD, will it play on standard DVD set top player? Can it play on a NTSC set?

If I’m not mistaken here…once you output to the .mpeg compression for DVD…it should play just fine on any DVD player.

Even most EU players are cross compatible with pal/ntsc as long they were made in recent years.

Not sure about the other questions.

Hi, 25i or 25p 576 lines is PAL. it is all 50hz. But the DVD playback question – many now will play either PAL or NTSC. Just check because some large mfg’s will lock it to only NTSC. Lite on, Apex, many OEM players will play both.
