HD XDCAM
Just started to learn Vegas 8. Attempted to load proxies in to the XDCAM vierer window. The files are loaded on to my computer, but the window just shows text info for the clip and an hourglass icon. Any help with what i doing wrong?

If you’re only seeing text info, is it the MXF data?
When you say “files are loaded on my computer” do you mean you imported via the PDZ1 or via Vegas? Or just use FAM mode to copy all the XDCAM data over?First, I’d like to know if your Explorer is working correctly, so connect the XDCAM via iLink/firewire.
Put it in FAM mode.
In Vegas XDCAM explorer, import the disc. Vegas will prompt you to locate the camera/deck. Probably drive E, F, or G on most “normal” computers.
Browse to the folders there, and import proxies for the disc itself.Make sense?

Got it to see the PDW-f70 deck and import the proxies to my laptop (dell latitude d820) but the icons do not show up and I can’t edit the proxies. I also have the PDZ-1 software on my computer. All I get is boxes with text & and hourglass in the XDCAM explorer. Can send you a screen cap if you want, just give me direct email or tell me how to put one in a reply.
