I am new to FCP and to the MAC. I am making a team video for a softball team that they provided me with only pictures no video so I am using transitions, keyframes etc to make it interesting.

My question is I normally have my settings to HDV but I want to make a DVD that they can use on any DVD player or a computer. Should I go ahead and continue to use HDV settings even though I only have pictures and then when it is time to output to quicktime use SD settings? or should something like this be done in SD settings? and which do you suggest.

I have already started editing so if I should really do this in SD can I change my settings now?

    thank you.

for some reason it is taking like 18 minutes to render when I put just a few photos down and I am sometimes getting a file error message but not what is the error and it won’t render. there was a message at the top of where one of the photos was in red to be rendered. I looked at the message and it said my photo memory needed to be adjusted under the settings for the still cache. It is set to 10%.

I don’t have a clue what to do now.

    should I start all over??

    thank you.

all Pictures? no video at all? then no need for the HDV format. With something like that you can go as basic as a NTSC 48
I think the bottom line is if only photos do what you are comfortable with.

I went back and created another project with NTSC format and am bringing in the pictures one by one and they are showing up right now. I tried to do a cut and paste but it squished the pictures and didn’t look right. I didn’t re-import them. I did just copy them from the other project.

how many photos? it is entirley possible that you have photos that are corupted. You might try to start over in a brand new project. It is also possible that project became corrupted.
I’d say give that a shot..

I think that is what happened. There are over 1200 pictures but I had only about 80 in the timeline so far.

I am still learning everything. there are so many options it is hard to figure them out. thank you.

You might try selecting the pasted clips and then Control-click and select Remove Attributes. On the menu that opens, check Distort.
