Hi folks, I just bought a Sony EX1 and it is the first time I am using HD format. My final output resolution will still be 720*576, 25fps interlaced for TV broadcast. My main question is about the ‘interlaced’workflow:

    1. How do you down convert 1080i50 to SD 720*576 interlace. I mean it is easy to simply scale down the footage by opening a SD project and throwing the HD footage into the SD timeline and scale it to 54 percent. But my question is the ‘Fields’or ‘interlace’ issue, how does it work?

    2. Do I have to ‘deinterlace’ the HD footage in the SD timeline?

    3. Next step is to render the project out to SD with lower fields setting ?.

    Thanks,
    John

It’s not a problem, but to get the best quality out of a HD clip in an SD project don’t scale the frame size, make it “Scale to Frame” by right clicking clips in the timeline. The can be automatically Scaled this way when added to the timeline with a setting in the Preferences.
