HD TO SD Flash Frames and other woes
Final Cut Pro XDCAM HD and down conversion.
Hello all, i am having some issues with a project i am working on and am hoping somebody out there can shed some light
we recently shot a multi cam live music performance on a mixture of XDCAM 700s and EX3 all shooting at 1080i50, mixed through a Panasonic vision mixer and recorded on to an xdcam hd 422 recorder also recording at 1080i50
Performance was of fiddles, harp, guitar and bass.
The media was brought in to FCP 7.02 via xdcam transfer and edited in a multicam session. using an XDCAM 50mbs cbr sequence
although the the FCP was crashing a lot (it was a ten cam shoot) and it was a bit of a pain we got through it
now for the fun part!
we need to deliver the program in HD and SD-PAL we exported a hd quicktime (xdcam) and used this file to playout through our KONA3 FCP using the hardware downconverter and recapture into another machine at SD
We noticed a lot of flash fields on the captured file and we we looked at the HD quicktime and there was a lot of flash fields there too. these fields did not exist on the original session they seemed to be introduced at the point we exported the original HD quicktime
thinking we may have had a bad export we went through the process again had got the same results.
also the resultant SD down converted file had aliasing on strings was isnt great.
so i guess what i am asking is..
has anybody seen the flash field issue before is so whats the best way to get around it.
what is the best way to go from HD to SD with out alaising, i have tried all kind of exports and none of then seem to be better than the Kona,
Short of a Snell and Wilcox, i am at a loss
