  • HD to SD export using maintain Aspect with crop in avid?

    Hi,
I have a 1080 sequence. I need to export a copy of this sequence as a same as source SD 4:3 QT. In FCP there is a feature that allows you to export 4:3 and maintain the aspect ratio by cropping. Been utilizing this work flow for awhile. Now i need to do the same in AVID.

However, i cannot get it to work properly… Under export settings/custom/ quicktime options you have the same exact dialog box as in fcp, but the exports are not properly cropped.

There are 2 sets of options the ones in the avid export settings box and the ones in the qt options box. Ive tried many combinations and i always get either an anamorphic 4:3 image (scale to fit) or a blow up of the image inside the 4:3 space (crop/pad).

Its not a square vs non square thing either because the full frame is there. The crop does not seem to be working. Any ideas?

Sorry, I meant Im trying to export my 1080 sequence to Meridian compressed 2:1 NOT same as source as i stated above.

Also, is this possible a Quicktime pro issue as this machine does not have Qt pro installed?
