HD to SD Conversion
Hello everyone,
I am editing on 5.1.4 (have FCP6, but will wait to upgrade after this project) and my project is in 720p24 off of the P2 MXF format. I’m relatively new at FCP, having been an Avid editor for the last nine years and admitedly need a little help as I complete this project.
1) The file sizes for the footage is at 960×720 as opposed to 1280×720; what’s the deal with that? I imported all the footage direct from a G-Raid containing all of the P2’s media.
2) Once done with the project, how do I output the sequence into a letter boxed SD file at 29.97? …Do I export the sequence as is then go into Compressor, setect my output settings and turn off the anamorphic settings, or is there a way to do this in FCP?
3) I have SD (720×486 rectangle pixel) footage that needs to be edited into the sequence off of an Avid. I know upgrading to FCP6 would eliminate this issue, but from experience am cautious about upgrading in middle of a project with a deadline looming. My thought is to output the footage from the Avid and add it to the SD project file, or edit the those clips in the Avid. Suggestions and methods, including export settings for media out of the Avid (I have the Avid codecs loaded)?
Thanks, everyone.
