I edit in 1920x1080i for a couple of TV stations in the area that accept spots in HD. What is the best way to convert it to SD for the one station that can’t handle HD without redigitizing the footage to 720×486? I’ve been simply taking the HD Sequence and putting it into a new 720×486 Sequence and then scaling it down to 45. However, this leaves text with aliased edges. When I take the 1920x1080i Sequence and output it to an uncompressed avi to then import into AE, I end up getting horizontal stuttering on the AE output, but the text and other shots that aren’t panning look great. I’ve tried both Field Dominances and the Progressive setting to no avail. Clearly many people must be in the same boat and successfully are able to get a good looking SD spot out of an HD one. How?

    Good tutorial.

A question though – for general DVD use in set top DVD players – I have some 1080p25 video that I want to edit and convert to DVD using Encore.

Jeff’s tutorial talked about outputting 1080p30 as progressive NTSC.

Can and should it be interlaced in Premiere by using the interlace consecutive frames field options?

    How would that look?

Will all old DVD players play PAL 25p footage OK?

    Thanks,

    Paul.
