    Hello ALL,

I am using the HRD-FX1 and had a question:
I am using the “Easy Setup” (HDV1080i60) for HD in FCP5 to capture the footage from the HDR-FX1.

My problem that I am forseeing is, the monitor that the finished product will be viewed on isn’t an HD monitor. Can I make an SD sequence and drop the HD sequence into it preserving the 16:9 aspect ratio?

    Thanks,

If my timeline is SD, can I then dump it out to SD MiniDV tape? and have no issues?

Are you saying that you don’t need an HD output at all? If not, why not just set the firewire output on the camera to DV and capture as DV. It’s still great looking, and will save you HOURS in renders etc. HDV is TERRIBLE to work with in FCP.

You’ll still have a nice looking product, as the camera takes great images that look good at either resolution, but if you’re not going to show it HD, what’s the point of doing it HD?

If you have a capture card such as the Kona, you could work in a decent HD codec, like HD DVC Pro, by captureing from an HDV deck using the component HD outputs.
