I need to get HD shoot footage transferred over to a few hard drives. This would be perfect for a FCP workflow, as we can litereally digitize each tape at full res – and then dump that digitized tape over it to a few FW800 drives I will supply.

Does anyone know of a facility or person in Los Angeles with a system set up to do this somewhat affordably? i’d rather not go through the elaborate process of renting an HD deck, connecting it, etc.

    Many thanks,

What form of HD? The anything higher than DVCPRO HD and FW 800 drives ain’t gonna cut it. Need an 8 Drive SATA Raid, or Ultra SCSI or Fibrechannel array for that.

    Try:
    Digital Film Tree
    West Post Digital
    Plastercity Post

Yeah, I’m assuming that anyone that has an HD deck already has a RAID capable of handling 1080i. I actually work at West Post Digital quite a bit (Pacific Soundwaves in the back). I’ll ask them about it.

My end use is for After Effects, not realtime playback – although I think this stuff is 720p, so my RAID should handle the HD if I need it to.

    Thanks for the tip!
