Please excuse my ignorance in-advance. I have a Panasonic HVX 200A that has a S-Video 4-Pin output. I need to connect to a video switcher with a HD-SDI input; and it needs to run for about 50′. Does anyone have suggestions? I’m not that familiar with cabling. Thank you-

    Hey Tao,

You need a converter and a analogue SD to Digital HD up-scaler box in one, which I suspect may cost you more money than the camera itself (or hiring a camera with HD-SDI out). Even if you do get the box, there is no guarantee that the picture will look good in the up-scaled format.

Alternative, and I don’t know the specific model so no promises, you could try and see if the Firewire will give you a live HDV signal. Then at least you should only need a converter from FW to SDI, rather than down-converting to S-Video and then up-converting to HD-SDI.

    All the Best
