HD & SD Video Slow to Start
I am running a Mac Pro and I import some HD video from a Canon that is AVCHD. When I first drag the video to the timeline I cannot play the video. I hit space bar and even the play button and nothing happens. I can go and mess around in another program for a while and then when I come back everything seems to work fine. Any ideas why this happens.
I also just noticed that it does the same thing with Sd video as well.
It won’t play in the preview window or the monitor at first. Is this some sort of lag. Would it be better to convery this video format to a more standard one?

Premiere needs to “index” mpeg files and .wmv as well before editing can begin. DV and most .avi files should import quickly.
