HD & SD out (at same time)
trying to find the perfect replacement for a Z1 that has 5 good yrs of use behind it. have always been able to do a dv output along with a s-video at the same time from it. This coming season my software vendor has offered a chance to beta test their hd program. we tested with my EX1 to gorgous results but that camera is used in our locker room for coaches show. My question is does the NX5U output an hd-sdi from the bnc & a analog composite from the rca’s on the back at the same time? can’t find anything in the sony manuals about it. I have to have that analog feed for the sony dvd direct recorder so they can walk away from the gym with dvd’s within minutes of the end of the game.

Short answer: NO. You can feed HD-SDI and HDMI at the same time or Component and composite at the same time. It’s the one thing I hate about this camera because I can’t use my on-camera 7″ SD monitor when feeding HD-SDI to a switcher or live truck during live events.
