I’m a Sony Vegas editor but the other guys in the office are all on FCP 6.0. We recently got a Playstation 3 for the office to play blu-rays and store HD clips on its hard drive.

When my colleagues create a blu-ray and burn it to a dvd-r, they do so using an mpeg2 hd format which the PS3 can copy onto the drive. In Vegas I can render out AVC (H.264) files and just transfer them via usb thumbdrive, but when we tried this in FCP, the PS3 couldn’t see any supported formats on the drive. They tried with the HD DVD templates for both mpeg2 and h264 in Compressor.

Has anyone else done this? Is there a particular setting that works best? Thanks in advance.

mpeg2 should not be a problem at all. H.264 it can be very tricky to get it right.

any HD mpeg2 file should work that uses:

    1280×720 60fps

    or

    1920×1080 30fps or 24fps
