I recently changed jobs from HD for web to broadcast what the hell do I have to buy to hook up like a canopus box? I have a sd one but I can’t find any equivalent for HD video output to QC monitor. It’s frustrating me because I know its in my face but I can’t find device on BH.

Ok but I’m working with tape less system. I have a Canopus breakout for sd that just firewired in and had outputs. Do you know the best device for tape less hd editing?

Your firewire options for HD are limited. VERY limited. AJA IoHD works with Final Cut Pro 6 and 7 only, and runs $3500…if you can find it. The MOTU V4HD is $2000.

If you have Thunderbolt connectors, then you have better options. Decklink Intensity Shuttle and Intensity Extreme are both under $300. The Matrox MXO2 Mini is $500. Those all work with Avid/FCP/FCX/Adobe.

If you have an iMac with no Thunderbolt…you are out of luck. If you have a laptop with Express34, there is the AJA IO Express ($1000), and Matrox MXO2 Mini. If not…if only firewire, then the first option I list is all that’s available.

    What computer do you have?

No, that’s fine. Get the Decklink Intensity Pro. $200. HDMI out.
