I tried to look for an answer in the forums, but was unable to find the right one.
I’m trying to figure out if my frame size for an HD project is 1920×1080 (HDTV 1080i), shouldn’t there be a match on the pixel aspect ratio of the same size? The highest mine goes is HD(1440×1080). When are those other ratios usable?
    *960×720
    *1280×1080
    *1440×1080

HD is square when in full raster. Some codecs use different counts and aspect. What codec is your footage.

This depends on the format you have shot.

DVCPro HD, HDV and even HDCAM are anamorphic formats.

DVCPro HD NTSC and PAL have different aspect ratios.

    ProRes is full raster.

What did you shoot and what are you delivering?

The footage is from various studios and at various rates: HDCAM 59.94i and HDCAM 23.98psf.
But I should also mention that once finalized, the master will have to be converted for PAL. So should I be asking the studios for a clean 60i tape for an easier conversion to 50i, or does that not make sense?
