I’m trying to get HD output from the 1200A, it has all the HD/SDI cards. I have SDI out however, can’t get any HD picture into my SmokeHD system. This is not my Deck and the DP that owns this deck has never gotten an HD output signal, Its just 2 months old. The config the smoke to 1280 x 720 config. I have no other HD monitor in the house. Could it be possible that the HD Boards are fried? As I have heard you can fried the firewire boards. Or is it a matter of another menu? Sorry of stupid question, but I’d like to understand how to use this deck as well as HD footage in editiing so many options.

    Thank you for any help,

    Stan Chang

You should be able to get HD via SDI so long as you’re hooked up to the HD-SDI output. Have you tried Component just to ensure that you’re seeing any signal out of it?

The machine is defaulted so that 720p and 1080i will play out normally via HD-SDI. If he has never seen an HD signal, he should have contacted his reseller immediately because something is definitely wrong. Could be a fried board, could also be a board that’s become unseated inside the machine.

    Thanks Walter,
I do think something is seriously wrong with this deck.

I will pass this info along to the owner.

    Hi Stan,
Make sure that the 1200 is set to system frequency 59/60 (menu No 25 setting 0000.) A lot of people set the deck to 24 thinking that this is the setting for getting a signal out of the HDSDI connector. In 59/60 mode you are allowing the deck’s hardware to perform the flagged frame removal from the 720p@60 stream that is native of all footage shot with Varicam. You should now get a 720p@ what ever frame rate your DP shot with.
All you will get is a black screen if any other setting is used.
    Hope this helps.
