HD multiclip too large to edit. Bandwidth problems ensue.
I’m cutting a four camera shoot on Final Cut 6 and my system can’t handle the workload. I need some sort of workaround solution.
The four clips are all 1440 x 1080 (Apple ProRes 422) clips; approximately 3 hours in length. The project is ~800 GB in size and is accessed from an Avastor HDX via Firewire 800. I am cutting on a Macbook Pro with 2.66 GHz Intel Core Duo with 4 GB memory. The multiclip grinds to a halt after only a few seconds of playback. All Final Cut playback settings are at the lowest choice.
The final project will be submitted at a 4×3 aspect ratio in SD (to play on public television.) Can I convert these clips to some other format to make them read smoother? I would access them from an internal drive (to increase bandwidth), but I don’t have 800 GB of space. 🙂 Does anyone have an idea to try? Thank you in advance! This is my first post.
