    Hi All

Looking for an affordable HD monitoring solution for color correction.
I understand that there is no one great solution that is cost effective. But Im looking in the 5,000 range.

    Thanks,

    Michael

For that price you can afford a Sony PVM-20/L5 20″ CRT.

It comes with HD/SD switching component analog in, but if you want SDI the add on card is about another thousand.

Walter, Shane & I all have the 14″ version and use it
    for color correction.

Its a great multi-format monitor to be sure.
They are now discontinued but they pop up on ebay now and then.

I found mine here at the creative cow.net classifieds.

    That is an affordable range.

The Decklink Extreme is $995. Then you can look at the Panasonic BT-LH1700 HD LCD…that is about $3500-4000. My favorite lower cost HD LCD is the JVC DT-V24L1DU – about $4500.

Then there is the ULTRA LOW cost Matrox MXO and Apple Cinema Display option. Click on my head at the top of the forum and you’ll find a review for it here on the Cow.

$5000 is very doable. I was expecting you to say something like $500, like everyone else is apt to do here.

    Thanks Chris and Shane

Im doing a search for the Sony that Chris recommended.

Shane: How does the Panasonic and JVC do with viewing SD?

Pretty well. A bit better than the MXO/ACD combo. That, IMHO, is a good HD solution, but for SD, attach an SD monitor to the MXO.

I really like the JVC…that would be my recommendation.

Right now you can pick up the JVC with HD/SDI from B&H for $3699, thats a great price. I’ve used the 20 inch version and I think for the price JVC’s LCDs are the best. I think they have better blacks then the Panasonic LCD’s, but I love the waveform on the Panasonic, wish JVC had that feature.

[Chris Borjis] “Walter, Shane & I all have the 14” version and use it

I use the 20″ version and have really liked it. It can be really hard to find though. They were discontinued around 3 years ago.
