Posted by Sam Painter on December 8, 2006 at 7:39 amWhat is the BEST multi format HD monitor out there for under $10,000.00?
I like the Panasonic BT-lh900. Is there anything better?Peter Steinman replied 19 years, 5 months ago 4 Members · 7 Replies -

December 8, 2006 at 1:49 pmWe are using the Panasonic BT-LH1700W 17″ widescreen high definition monitor which features two auto-switching SDI / HD-SDI inputs, waveform monitoring, and freeze frame/split screen functions. You can buy them new for under 3K.

December 8, 2006 at 4:09 pmSam,
If you’re talking on-board style then the 8.4″ Panasonic is the best package for the money, especially with the rudimentary waveform (mostly good for setting the exposure vs. actual camera setup). There is an Astro for about your 10K figure that has complete WF & Vectorscope function and of course the Leader LV5750 although the picture function on that is somewhat inferior, but it’s well under $10000.
In the larger monitors, I’m quite partial to the eCinema DCM23 ( I have two) because not only is it full 1920×1080 resolution (with scaleing for 720 to full screen), but it has built in LUT to correct overbright LCD
characteristics to match CRT gamma and brightness so that it can be trusted for lighting.Sounds like you bought an HD camera?

December 8, 2006 at 6:41 pmWhere did you find a 5750 for well under $10k ? I’ve been wanting to pick on up but, last time I looked around I was being quoted almost $12k.

Here’s link to box shop in NY that has it for about $8500. I bought mine for a little less elsewhere, but this might have been a “special program” that has expired?

Good luck,

December 9, 2006 at 1:07 amThanks John. Have you ordered from these guys before and any idea what the ‘-special’ part might be about ?
I notice they have it also listed for $11,880. Ordering anything ‘special’ from electronics dealers in east coast makes me freak out a bit 😉

December 9, 2006 at 1:13 amI think these guys are ok. I spoke with them on the phone. The special part is that Leader was having a promotion; I don’t know if it’s still on, you’ll have to check.

December 9, 2006 at 1:20 amIt’s still listed so, hopefully it is. Guess I’ll bug them on Monday. I wonder if the special deal means they have something new about to launch.
