OK, a little behind the curve here, but finally have my first HD edit. Working with a Quad Core 2.88 Mac with 6GB RAM, KONA LHi and FCS 3 on Leopard.
    Working with mostly 1440 X 1080 29.97fps clips from a purchased DVD.
I’m trying to drive a 720p monitor (I think the brand is Dynex). Trying 1440 X 1080 timelines as well as any other size HD timeline I can, using all manner of Quicktime compression schemes…but the footage on the monitor is jaggedy and pixelated…when it plays. I’ve had success with the AJA 10-bit and 8-bit Quicktime compressors, but FCP can’t keep up, stutters and stops and gives the dropped frames indicator, even though I’m using SafeRT. Also trying many output schemes from the Kona card itself.
I’ve been scouring the Cow and other web outlets but having no luck finding a timely solution. Is there a good resource or a quick fix to this?

    Thanks,
    Mike.

    I should add, I’m working from a 500GB G-Raid, which is a RAID 0.
