HD MiniDv tape capture question
I need to capture some HD video shot on MiniDv tape (I did not shoot the video). Can I play an HD MiniDv tape in my SD camcorder to capture it with Vegas or does the camera that I play the tape on for the capture need to be HD? I do not have an HD camcorder that uses MiniDv tape.

Yes you do need an HD camcorder (preferably the one that used for the original recording although this is not mandatory) to be able to play and capture the footage.
