    hi,
I’m having to work on a job who will be done all in HD using FCP for offline.
Here the standard is PAL but the final deliver is in NTSC.
we using to start a G4 dual 1ghz ,1G ram, and as in/out a panasonic HD recorder.
all need to be sync to sound.
Do you guys have any advice to make this all smooth?
-Do we need any special preparation for audio due to the PAL NTSC bridge?
    any workflow tip?

    cheers

The G4 will be fine for HD offline. What format of HD? DVCPRO HD? Capture offline at DV resolution. The deck can downconvert (setting 894 i believe) and just use the Easy Setup for DV/PAL.

Edit offline, and online in PAL. Mix audio in PAL…get a finished PAL master. Then get that master converted at a professional dub facility. There are so many variables in dealing with converting the final video with nattress standards converter, and it staying in sync with final audio, etc. Converting your footage beforehand with Nattress is easier, then working in an NTSC timeline..but that is a LOT of footage…too time consuming. Just work in PAL land from start to finish, then convert.

I am working with DVCPRO HD footage natively for my next project…and writing about my workflow at http://www.lfhd.net.
