HD Link…What am I gaining
Hello,
I was planning on purchasing a HD LInk or HD Link Pro to monitor video out of FCP to a Sony HDTV. However, before I buy I decided to run a test, I’m running video right from my AJA Kona 2 break out box right to my HDTV. Besides for being able to have audio and video thru a single HDMI cable what benefits are there with a HD Link box? More specifically, how much better is the video signal going to be with a HD Link?Thanks for the help.

you can run the analog component signal to the monitor directly (Y Pb Pr) and get the same effect. Same applies to Blackmagic products (like Decklink HD Extreme) – put Y Pb Pr signal into HD monitor, and get the full HD image, (using analog component HD) without spending any money. This is a VERY common setup.

thanks for the reply. So am I losing any quality? Seems like I’m only losing convenience of both audio and video on one cable with a HDMI cable. and the software extras that come with the HD Link products.Thanks for your info.
