howdy guys perhaps i’m not using the right keyword combo to search for this…but i can’t seem to find anything on this subject.

I know when creating graphics in SD with Photo shop you had to do that whole create the image in 540 and switch it back etc (actual process improvised!)

is there a similar procedure when doing graphics in HD ?

we are having issues importing graphics (PS-CS3 and CS4) into FCP 6.04

thanks in advance for the help

That process is a bit outdated. PS added support for non-square pixels with CS1 I think. Might have even been PS7. When you create a ps document and give it the image specs, they have presets for all the standard video sizes and aspect ratios. And you can view with pixel aspect ratio compensation on or off. Just like AE and FCP, it looks better with it off, but it’s hard to work in something like DVCProHD if you’re looking at the squeezed view.

However, if you’re working in HD, it’s native full 1080p size is square pixels. 1920×1080. Or 720p @ 1280×720.

I would work in one of those two resolutions depending on whether your project is 720 or 1080. Drag those into the sequence and FCP should adjust them to fill the screen. If it doesn’t adjust the distort property in the motion tab.
