HD: Final Cut QT >> Premiere Pro
Hi there!
The HD-Footage I shot was captured on HD on a Mac using Final Cut Pro which resulted in Quicktime-Files.
Now I need to edit these files on a PC using Premiere Pro 2.0 – while the files can be imported, they only show as a white screen when I try to play them.
They also can’t be viewed in Quicktime – neither Mac nor PC – although they can be opened and File Information is aviable, saying “HDV 1080i50” which is correct.
The question is, how can I convert the files so they can be edited in Premiere?

I’m not really knowledgeable on FCP’s native HDV file structure, but I suspect it’s something proprietary to FCP. Otherwise, it almost sounds as if there’s a problem with the file if even QT can’t play them on a Mac…
I suspect you’ll have to convert them to something more universal like “animation” compression to transfer them.
…or even better, you can get better performance from PPro if you capture the HDV from there. QT files will have to be rendered…
