Trying to workout if we have the capacity to do HD trailers at my work could anyone please give me a ratio of mins = GBs that HD would require. I heard 1800 gbs for a feature film does this sound right??? We would be outsourcing the capture and export.
    thx in advance.

This all depends on the type of HD you are working with (HDCAM, D5, DVCPRO HD…uncompressed 8-bit, 10-bit, 4:4:4, 2k, 4k…) and what the frame rate is (24, 30, 60).

Your best bet is to go to the AJA site and download the Data Rate Calculator:

    https://www.aja.com/support_kona.htm

It will give you all the various formats and storage requirements.

    Hi Shane,

I think the calculator can be found here:

    Don’t worry Mr. B. I have a cunning plan…

    PowerBook 1.67 Ghz ATI 9700 128 MB 2 GB
    Mac OS X 10.4.5 QuickTime Pro 7.0.4
    Final Cut Pro HD
    DVD Studio Pro 3
    Motion
    After Effects 6.5

Thx that is a handy little tool. So what would be the best compression if i was transferring from HD to film? Would it be the 1920×1080 10bit?

SOunds like it. But ask the film transfer house for their input. Since they deal with it every day.
