If you incorporate standard def, then the Blackmagic products are terrible at upconverting. Everything else about it is top notch.

Your graphics person will need the Apple ProRes Quicktime components. These components are only available legally by purchasing Final Cut Studio 2. If you wish to engage in illegal activity, which is always evil, you can find the Quicktime components in /Library/Quicktime. For whatever reason, Apple has taken no measures to prevent copying these files to another machine. IMO all Apple codecs should be included in all versions of QT (PC and Mac).

Sean, I agree. The components should be available so others can at least view material. Same goes for XDCAM components.

Do you know if the Kona cards are any better with SD upconversion?

    Thanks!

[Ronnie James] “Do you know if the Kona cards are any better with SD upconversion?”

The Kona 3 does very good upconversions. The LHe does not do upconversions.
