I am about to put together a show in HD and need to know if the HD Extreme card will work for me. I guess my question is, if I receive HD tapes in different formats (e.g. 1080PsF 23.98, 1080i, 720P, etc…) will the HD Extreme cross convert for full 1080i output?
I was also looking at the Kona 3, but that has a heavier price tag. Any thoughts?
p.s. working in Final Cut Studio on MacPro.

I did research on this when I bought my last system. Unfortunately the Decklink cards, even the Extreme, do not cross convert HD formats on ingest or output. No 1080 to 720 or 720 to 1080. You would have to transcode first. But the AJA Kona 3 does do this, and it does it in hardware, not software, nor does it rely on the computers processors like the Decklink cards do. For this reason I went with the Kona 3.

Plus it upconverts SD to 720 or 1080, whereas the Decklink cards only upconvert to 1080. I was working with 720p DVCPRO HD, so that was a big thing for me.
