    HD Extreme 1080 29.97Hz output issue

    It seems that my HD Extreme card outputs an SD frame size when it is set to the Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 29.97Hz video output preset. When switched to 30Hz, the frame size is standard 1080 but when switched to 29.97Hz frame size is SD. I have 2 of the 3ghz 8 core Mac Pros wtih 8gigs of Ram and both have the same situation. Cards are in slot 4 with option 2 selected on the Expansion Slot Utility. Everything is up to date even tried the 6.2 driver today. Preset in question work prefectly on G5. The issue occurs in both FCP and BM Deck Control. Card does ouput proper frame size when used as desktop.

    Any suggestions would be Greatly Appreciated.

    Hi Jarrod,

    Would you please check if you have down conversion enabled in your System Preferences>DeckLink. If you do, it will happily downconvert video running at 25 or 29.97 Hz for PAL and NTSC video respectively. That’s why it wouldn’t downconvert 30 Hz video as this does not match the NTSC frame rate.

    Hi Luke,
    Thank you for your response. I don’t need the card to down convert. I am trying to output to my HD Cam deck using the 1080 29Hz ouput setting but the deck does not see the output of the card because the card is out putting a SD Frame size not a 1080 frame. I discovered this by checking the out put using my HD Link. When i switch to the 1080 30Hz preset the HD link then out puts a 1080 frame but a 30Hz 1080 frame, which is fine but I can not record that signal to the HD Cam deck without sync issues. The 1080 29Hz preset works prefectly on my G5 (using a HD Pro single link) , which is how i have to output to the to the HDCam deck now. I just can’t figure out the problem with the 1080 29Hz preset on the Mac Pro. I recently converted all my systems to Blackmagic products and this is the only glitch I have encountered. Any help or suggestions with this issue would be GREATLY Appreciated.
