  • HD exporting to DV. What sequence-compressor settings?

I want to export some Full HD footage 1920 x 1080. I edit in a full HD timeline. Then create new sequence with DV settings. Then I add the HD sequence into this DV sequence (size it down), and export to a DV AVI file.

But what compressor settings should the DV sequence be? Should I choose DV compressor, as this is my export format? Maybe this is not a good idea, as the resizing function is happening in this sequence, and a DV codec is not good for this?

Or should I use a higher codec like ProRes 422? This sounds to be the best idea, but I could be better to use the DV codec instead, as my final output is DV.

Or does it matter when doing this resizing thing? What do you guys think?

I would create an SD timeline but use the Prores 422 codec. Then take your HD clips and drop them straight into the SD timeline. You can scale them to full frame or leave letterboxed. See what you think of the results.

I\’ve tried many of the compression formulas suggested here on the COW but like the results of what I\’ve suggested.
