Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy HD Explaining

I’m not sure what forum to put this in. I need to find where I can see the differences between 480i/60i, 480i/30p………1080i/60i and everything in between. I just got a hvx 200a and I have a gig coming up the requires me to shoot HD, but, is 720i (or p) considered HD? I’m lost. Sorry if this is not the right place for this and too basic. Please help or point me to some documentation that will explain it like I was 2. lol

    Thank you

720p and 1080i are the two standard HD formats. 480p and 480i are Standard Definition formats.

If you want the highest quality and the look of “live video” then you shoot in either 720p/60 or 1080i/60.

If you want the “film look” then you shoot in 720p/24 or 720/30. Both create a stutter to pans and zooms so you need to test with these before you shoot with them. We do all our HD work in both 720p/60 and 1080i/60 as we really like the ultimate sharpness you get with both.

We do have several HD forums here on the Cow for more information about HD.
