Hey guys, I’m the promotions director at a mid-market station that just went HD and we were looking into switching over to Macs and Final cut for promotions and creative services. Because most stations we produce for are still in SD we need to make a copy of everything both in HD and SD. So can final cut HD downconvert projects to SD without having to do two seperate projects for everything? And if so will it letterbox, or will we have to frame the project with 4:3 in mind? Thanks so much.

If you get a AJA Kona3 Card you can ouput SD and HD versions of your sequences simultaneously (hardware down and upconversion), as well as crossconvert between different HD formats.
You can select whether you want letterbox or center cut.
