    Hi Guys,
Im a newbie and this is a tad bit old so be easy on the roasting haha. I am a professional audio engineer starting to get into video (For fun) I just aquired a 7d and a rebel t2i so im real interested in getting the full 1080p out of my system. I am using a power mac quad g5 and currently have dual vga. I plan on buying a HD monitor for playback. I want to try and get the best quality possible. If you can give me some insight on what I need that would be great. Is it as simple as buying a cable to convert dvi to hdmi? Also if anyone can point me into the right direction to get three independent displays going that would be great!!!

    Thanks in Advance!

This question is asked and answered every day, so a simple search will yield all the answers you could possibly require.

And, for the record, a simple DVI adapter is, as your search will further reveal, not what you need to display video to an HD monitor. Video I/O devices such as those by AJA, Blackmagic, and Matrox do that, otherwise your HDTV just functions as a big computer display, which is a whole different animal from a true video monitor or TV.

    Frank,
If you really want to monitor HD properly as cost effectively as possible you need a device that can turn an HDMI monitor to a broadcast monitor … and there is only one device that can do that the Matrox MXO2 (actually any of the MXO2 boxes https://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mac/mxo2_family/)

Check out the video on this page, it shows how you would calibrate your HDMI into a broadcast monitor. https://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mac/mxo2_family/monitoring/

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help! As I stated Im super new to this. Hard to google something when you dont know what its called. With those products you suggest will I be able to still run my dual displays along with an HD TV? I was looking at this unit

    https://www.fullcompass.com/product/387534.html

Once I connect the MXO2 or motu unit will they then be avialable in finalcuts video playback section as video out?

Thanks again in advanced. Also does anyone know of a shatter effect for motion similar to boris cc pixel polly?

    Hi Guys,
After looking into it the MX02s dont work with my Power PC G5Quad. I called several companies and none offer it? Any ideas I would really like to make sure Im color correcting correctly and without the proper display its pointless. If I cant find anything I might just bite the bullet but at this point Id hate to waste a perfectly powerful computer.

according to what I’ve read there is no love for the video from the T2i on the PPC Mac. I have FCP and you have to alter the camera.plist file, but this only works on Intel Macs. What are you using to edit?
