    Hi,

    Im confused alittle.

I have shot something in HDV (1440 x 1080) on a Z1 and all has gone well in FCP – It looks as it should etc… Howevre when I export it as a Quicktime converted movie I cant seem to get the dimensions to look 16:9 as it does in FCP…

As a tester in Photoshop I decided to look at a 1440 x 1080 screen (square pixels) and actually to my suprise it isnt showing up as a 16:9 looking image but rather squished in on the sides…

Can someone kindly put me right please.

    Cheers
    a

You may want to look at the pixel aspect ratio a little closer. If your footage is 1440×1080, then you’ve got a 1.33 pixel aspect ratio. Of course, FCP is going to display properly, because it detects the ratio and corrects for it, however from what I’ve read so far, Quicktime is not so smart.

It sounds like your export is fine, but Quicktime isn’t correcting the aspect ratio automatically. There are a couple threads on ways to tell Quicktime to play your clip at the correct ratio, but maybe you can search for them.
