    Joe, thanks for posting this.

What more do you need on there? That’s pretty comprehensive. The only thing that really missing are different 720pN frame rates, and…well…PAL. Remember that ProRes is the equivalent of DNxHD 145 and ProResHQ is the equivalent of DNxHD 220. I still think the free AJA Calculator is much more versatile and it can also calculate times with different numbers of channels of audio (0-16). It does not have the avid low res solutions on there, however.

I’ll check the AJA calculator, but I wanted on with ProRes in SD and HD variations, and the new Red format info. I thought this chart came from some HD reference site or Cow data that may have been easy to find online.

[Joe Huggins] “and the new Red format info. “

Well, since you won’t be editing native 4K it’s all about what you would transcode to, that most likely being ProRes or HQ at 1920×1080 and 23.976 fps (or 30, whatever you’re shooting). Perhaps 2K. Red Raw, I believe, is up just above 25MB/sec at 444, 4k, 24p, which is a data rate right aorund then Uncompressed 10 bit SD, but the frame size and information is so complex, rt playback of 4K material is reserved for the higest end systems.

For ProRes and (HQ) in HD, you can use the DNxHD 220 and 145 as guides, but it’s a VBR codec so those numbers are just targets. In reality, ProRes will probably be a bit smaller than 145 or 220 mbps.

Not sure about ProRes SD sizes. I’d have to look those up.

I just came across this site from Shane Ross’s blog and I thought it was relevant to the thread.

    David,

Wow, that’s a great response to an old post. You found it! I guess they have not updated that to current files like ProRes, but that is the exact page. Thanks again.

    Thanks, Film Joe
