  HD cloning question

  I would like to clone my HD in its current state and have inherited a 500GB Seagate Desk external drive. My question is has anybody had any success making a bootable clone using this type of drive. It only has a USB interface, but its not going to be for a recurring back up just a one time clone and then I’ll shelve it in case something happens with my system. Yes I know Firewire/eSATA would be preferable, but with a free drive on my desk now I would like to save the $$$ for something else
