I have in my hands an avid mc adrenaline v 2.2.1. We are about to work on an an HD project but when I started to digitize the video tab can’t be activated. I can’t digitize at all using the DNA board but when i switched to the 1394 ‘firewire’ I am able to activate the video tabs for capture.

Is there any significant difference if I digitize using the 1394 ‘firewire’ settings as compared to the DNA?

How can I use the DNA to capture HD?

Buy this board for your Adrenaline and you can capture HD with it.

Note that by updating your Adrenaline to the lastest version of software, you can indeed capture HD over 1394. Even if you’re not working with HDV or DVCPro HD, many decks provide 1394 out — a solution that totally works, and looks great.

The disadvantage is that there’s no external monitoring. You have to do everything on your computer monitor and trust your scopes.

You’ll only need the HD board for the Adrenaline if want extra IO, such as HD component and HD-SDI, and external monitoring.

At the end of the day, you may find it less expensive to buy the latest version of MC software, and use 1394 in that environment. Exactly the same feature set found in the latest version of software found in the Adrenaline…with more limited IO, of course.

    Best,

    Tim
