HD BR 50U and lost deck control
Is it just my two decks and machines or is there no remote Firewire deck control of the BR-50U in 5.1.2? I can get video coming in FW and can capture now using play and cuing from the deck, 24 and 30. But though the Capture window shows VTR OK (meaning there’s a kosher handshake), deck control doesn’t go out from FCP to the deck. Doesn’t even budge. There’s no response whatsoever from the deck. Yes the deck is in Remote, actually doesn’t even matter, since the deck is configured to override the switch on the deck panel.
My settings and patch on the Mac and FCP are correct, else I wouldn’t be able to even capture now. Its taking in video and audio, but its not spitting out deck control. Damn, I’m hoping I’m overlooking something incredibly silly. Batch recapping isn’t an option and I’ve got batch lists galore here waiting on a little FW deck control love for 24P. This is both on a Dual G5 tower and a dual core 17″. I had deck control of 30P last week, now its gone along with the promised 24P! Can anyone confirm that they are able to Firewire control a BR-50U from 5.1.2? Please make my day.

now that deck control showed up (update reversed my Start/stop detect checkbox), I was all psyched and did an immediate capture nd every single clip cam in as a single frame. All batch capturing captures is a single frame. Worse still, it actually changes the Media start and end properties for the clips you’re batching! Logging and capturing a single clip captures correctly. Capture now operates correctly. But Batch capturing only captures the first frame. Sweet Jesus, this is not helpful. Nobody else doing batch recaptures with 5.1.2 on JVC 24P?
