March 9, 2007 at 3:33 pmWhen you down-convert and grade using the Kona card, you will have to reset your bars so your monitor is properly calibrated, and then regrade. You should grade for HD, and then grade for SD on two separate timelines.

March 10, 2007 at 12:28 amHello Rick,
Grade in 709. Output to a D5 or HDSR. Then downconvert to SD.
The down-conversion out of the “HD” Deck will automatically convert to 601. (Component Cables). Or you can go through a format converter like a “Teranex or a Panasonic UFC 1800” to get to SD.
You will have to use a “Proc” to reset levels(ie.. black levels & bars), but it is not nearly as involved as going from Film Color space to P3 (Digital Cinema)or to HD 709, which is a completely different grade for each.
So the short answer is.. It’s basically automatic.

March 19, 2007 at 7:43 pmHi there,
Is it possible to use a LUT on the AJA card to convert between different colour spaces?
Thanks,
