  • Having Trouble Importing a PSD file into AE CS5

Hey all, so I have been repeatedly trying to import a PSD file into AE, but AE only loads other files that:
    1) have the jpeg icon next to them, not the PSD icon

    2) Are not relevant to this composition. They’re from an older PSD file with a 944×646 resolution while this composition is 1080p and so are the PSD files that should be importing.

I have tried to import this PSD file several times now, using the Import > File

And then choosing the “Composition” & selecting Editable Layer Styles

I really am at my wits end.

That sounds really odd. What OS are you working on? What version of AE?

Here are a few thoughts for variations on importing technique (shots in the dark):

Have you tried opening your PSD in photoshop and saving a copy with a newer version of PS?

Have you tried dragging the PSD file into your project window (instead of FIle–>Import…)?

Have you tried importing without the “Editable Layer Styles” enabled?

OPen it up in PhotoShop, Make sure it’s not CMYK color space.
    Save as PSD
    Save as Tiff

Hey ben, I appreciate your response. I did end up just Re-saving the file as something completely different. That did the trick, but yes it was very odd.
