Having to “Render for Playback” simple audio changes??
I am having to “Render for Playback” all of my audio filters. I have a sequence of video with stereo audio that I digitized from my DV deck and I am trying to apply some audio filters to remove hum and clean up the audio but I have to Render the Audio for Playback. I read in the Manual (user volume III) and it speaks of a way to loop the sequence over and over as you make adjustments to the filter to real time HEAR the effects. I can’t do that. If I make any change at all and I have to re-render for playback. The capture and sequence presets are QuickTime Video Settings – DV/DVCpro-NTSC with the audio set to 48 KHz with a depth of 16-bit and the Channel Grouped. I’m using FCP 6.0.6 on a MAC with 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 18 GB 800MHz DDR2 FB DIMM. This is not a weak machine and I believe my capture and my sequence presets match. What am I missing? It just seems that my FCP has lost some of it’s power. I have also had some uncompressed .MOV files that my machine can’t play. Even after I render the video it can play it. I can scrub through it but I can’t play it. Thanks for listening.

in your user prefs,
change the number of real time audio tracks.
it may still be on the factory default of 8, which is just ridiculous in this day and age.nick
