Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Having Major Problems with Cross Dissolves in FCPX

I’ve been having a specific problem with cross dissolves. Specifically, when I add a dissolve to the beginning of a clip FCPX also adds one to the end of the clip or somewhere down the timeline. Sometimes I dont even notice it because I’m zoomed in. Is it a bug or a preference I haven’t noticed? It’s driving pretty crazy.

I’ve noticed the same thing. I’ve just been deleting the extra cross desolve. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future;-)

Dylan, I am having the same problem with the so called “popping” on my transitions, however, it only seems to happen when transitioning in/out of clips that have been stabilized.

Has anyone else had this problem? It’s driving me crazy.

Sometimes I can get it to go away by removing and then reapplying and re-rendering the stabilization. However, it always comes back after a few playbacks.

Karl, I haven’t been able to fix it at all. I had to build some quick titles for one of our many radio shows that stream online, and by the time I had to deliver we all just had to live with it.

Watch just the opening of this and you’ll see the “pop” that I mean:

The popping does not happen on the timeline, it always plays smooth in the program…only after I export, and I’ve tried many different codecs, but it doesn’t help.

Tearing my hair out here. I love FCP X but it keep messing with me I really want it to work.

Ok I want to add a audio crossfade. Seemingly very simple, I even got this great plugin

    https://alex4d.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/fcpx-transition-sound-only/

This is what I am doing

    Detach Audio from two clips

then select the two audio clips

then command G to create secondary storyline

then select the desired edit point

command T to put a default transition on to audio tracks audio only

This works fine I have tested it on two clips at the end of the timeline. But within the edit I have just completed it does not work. The transition appears to get added but I cannot hear the crossfade.

To add to this the bottom half of the green audio track (I know it’s not called a track anymore but that’s what it looks like) is now shaded blue. I can’t for the life of me work this out.

sending me crazy I use these all the time, any help much appreciated
