The thought of losing or having one stolen or damaged in the middle of a job begs the question of what then? Can i prove my purchase and get a new one sent out or am i totally screwed??

If the job is THAT important, get a second one.

If you have a faulty dongle please contact technical support. If lost, you can claim on your insurance just as you would for a lost computer. In an emergency you can use Resolve Lite and I know some travellers who download Lite to carry but not install as a safety for loosing their dongle.
